What is Prom of Champions?
The Prom of Champions, LLC is run by a group of volunteers dedicated to providing an unforgettable night for teenagers ages 13 through 18 diagnosed with cancer or blood disorders that receive treatment in the New Orleans area. The 2015 Prom of Champions event will be held at Champions Square and Club XLIV/Encore on Friday, April 3 from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. The event is supported by local sponsors and is free of charge to our patient families and their guests.
Dresses
Patients and their guests can choose a dress at our Boutique Day event on Sunday, March 1 from Noon – 4:00 p.m. at Chatta Box Boutique located at 4114 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA 70002.
Hair & Makeup
We have numerous hair & makeup salons that are donating their time to help make our girls look amazing! At Boutique Day, we will provide you with the locations and instructions on how to make your appointments. If you are not planning on attending Boutique Day, please be sure to make note of needing Hair & Makeup on the RSVP card.
Tuxedos
Patients and their guests can rent tuxedos from John’s Tuxedos located at 3200 Houma Blvd., Metairie, LA 70006. Before March 27, call 504.455.5353 to schedule your fitting appointment and make sure to reference the Prom of Champions. Please remember to return all items by the next day; Saturday, April 4.
Flowers
Patients and their guests will all receive corsages and/or boutonnieres. Flowers will be delivered to the venue and distributed at prom once the kids have arrived and have been checked in.
Hotels
The Prom of Champions will provide one hotel room (One-Night stay) at various local Marriott properties in the New Orleans area, to patient families and their guests who will be traveling to New Orleans for the Prom of Champions event. During the week of prom, if you live outside the commuting distance, we will contact you with your hotel location and check-in information. To stay at the hotel, there must be an adult with an ID present.
Transportation
The Prom of Champions will provide a limousine that will pick-up and drop off your child to one of our numerous pick-up/drop off locations. During the week of prom, we will contact you with your pick-up time and location. Please be on time to ensure the adequate arrival of the limos.
Prom Checkout
As stated previously, all guests will be transported by limo back to the same pick-up/drop off location. If the child is not returning to the pick-up/drop off location via limo, they must be signed out by an adult with an ID and must check out with Tiffany Reites. We take each child’s safety very seriously. All guests are checked in and out of prom. If you fail to notify Tiffany of your early departure, you will not be invited to another Prom of Champions event.
Parents at Prom
The Prom of Champions knows that every parent would like to be inside with their children as they enjoy their night, but prom is a special night just for the kids. We encourage parents, other family members and friends to attend the Red Carpet. The Red Carpet is where the kids get to be stars. Come out and help support our champions as they walk the Red Carpet! Don’t worry; we take lots of pictures and video!
Medical Attention
Doctors and nurses have volunteered to attend the event in case there is any medical emergency.
